First Impressions
We like the look and feel of the texturized black paint job on the RPBN pistol dispenser. The aesthetically pleasing lines are very clean with no visible dents, dings, or scratches to speak of.
The backup key functions well inside the lock and feels secure when the lid is closed. Thanks to its uncommonly small size, it should present a problem for lockpickers to find an atypical tubular decoder to gain access.
The keypad and biometric scanner are combined into one small unit and are made out of a high-quality plastic fascia that doesn’t feel too cheap and looks cool.

Mounting a handgun with an optic shouldn’t be a problem and there’s likely enough room to fit guns with flashlights mounted (though you may need to hollow out the foam a bit if the fit is too tight).
Setup and Programming
The RPBN biometric desk-mounted pistol safe dispenser is super easy to reprogram. The factory code is “1-2-3-4” and should be changed as soon as possible.
Here is how that’s done:
Reprogramming the keypad code:
- Step 1: Open the safe with the default code (1-2-3-4) to open the lid, locate the “program” button, and press it for 3 seconds.
- Step 2: Enter a 4 to 8-digit code of your choosing, then single-press the “program” button and the lights will flash. Close the lid and check that the code works.
After successfully programming your new keypad code, it’s time to register the master fingerprints.
